Anyone who takes up polymer clay as a crafting hobby is starting a journey. There is so much you can create with it and so many ways to express yourself…color, shapes, texture, design. I started a journal initially to keep track of techniques that I liked and exactly how I could reproduce it. But then it became so much more. Here is a pic of my first journal I decorated myself.
A journal is great for capturing your ideas before they slip away. Haven’t we all lay awake at night thinking about our next polymer clay design? Having a journal close by that you can jot down your ideas in is helpful and you can come back and fully explore them later.
It’s a great space for brainstorming your design ideas. I find that drawing a quick sketch helps me visualize a design. It doesn’t have to be pretty, no one else is going to see it.
It’s very interesting to look back at previous projects. I have a tendency to jump from one thing to another. Having documented some things means I can look back and pick up an old project easily.
I also love unstarted journals, they hold so much promise. I found some recently that are gorgeous. There are a few available in the store here.
